At 9 am on November 6, the APEC Economic Ministers’ Forum (TLCC) officially opened at the Furama Resort in Da Nang with the APEC Senior Officials Meeting CSOM) – the start of a series of milestones that lasted until 11-11.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, President of SOM APEC 2017, delivered the opening speech of CSOM to representatives of 21 APEC member economies.
At the beginning of the speech, Deputy Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed delegates to Da Nang, even in the rain. “But after the rain, it was sunny again,” he added.
Deputy Minister Son expressed his pleasure to meet the leaders in the last and most important session of the APEC Senior Officials Meeting.
Attending the CSOM today are over 200 delegates including senior officials (SOMs) from 21 APEC member economies, representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat, Pacific Economic Cooperation (PECC), Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), and the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).

TLCC APEC is the most important event of the APEC year that will bring together the leaders of the 21 APEC member economies to discuss the future of regional and international economic policies, economic growth and improved living conditions of the people in the Asia-Pacific region.
Following Peru’s priorities – the host of APEC 2016, Vietnam has selected four priorities for APEC 2017 in Danang, including:
1. Promoting sustainable, creative and inclusive growth;
2. Promote deep regional economic integration;
3. Enhancing the competitiveness and creativity of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the digital age;
4. Enhance food security and sustainable agriculture, adapt to climate change.
On the same day (6-11), at the University of Da Nang, the APEC 2017 Speech Forum opens with the attendance of youth delegates, students of participating economies, of which Vietnam has 17 delegates.
At the opening, the APEC 2017 Speech Forum will hold a dialogue on the following topics: Promoting Sustainable Growth, Innovation and Integration among Youth in Asia and the Pacific; How to create new momentum and work together for the future of youth in Asia and the Pacific; Enterprise, Innovation and Sustainability – Difficulties in Startup and Digital Age of Asia and the Pacific.
At the same time, delegates will discuss four thematic groups: Youth Contribution to APEC Vision 2020 and Future; Economic, financial and social integration; Human resources development in the digital age; Support policies for start-ups, innovation and small and medium enterprises ….
